The Event That Didn't Happen...

First, a heartfelt thanks to the 2,000 of you for the outpouring of support last Tuesday night at Behind the Mic 2007! Laura, Dave and Rusty were all so impressed with your response to our radio station and we on the KCMO Morning Show echo that sentiment. It's been a blur of a first year, and our listenership is growing because you're tuned in every day and spreading the word. On behalf of all of us, thanks so much!

Filling you in on the latest Semler/KCMO/KC Media showdown:

Thanks to one of our listeners, Bob in Smithville. He took the time to call out the Kansas City Star for their lack of coverage of our live event last week. A brief mention was made in reference to Semler's appearance on Laura's show but not that she was in town or the 2,000 people on their feet in support of the woman. Again, when Frances Semler is involved - "it didn't happen unless it casts her in a negative light" seems to be the media's template in coverage.

Our friend Kris Ketz did file the only story about the evening last Tuesday. Our thanks to him and the Channel 9 News team for, well, covering the news.

The lack of coverage of this event continues to remind us of the selective media bias that exists right here in river city. All outlets were notified, some by our staff personally. Ketz showed.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Star's Prime Buzz as well as the supposed "News Radio" morning show in town continue to link to and feature weekly, a radical Hispanic blogger as a credible news sourse. This came to our attention last week when the aforementioned blogger suggested KCMO Talk Radio 710 was violating federal broadcast rules. Our friend John Landsburg brings you the entire story and our response.

We at the KCMO Morning Show continue to watch with fascination the "news" media in town peddle a radical, racist, name calling, porn-pushing blogger as a credible media source. If one is judged by the company kept, all you have to do is take a brief look at this cat's "interests" in his profile.

A couple of news items that caught our attention this AM:

Regular doctors exams may not be what the doctor ordered - and fewer of them could mean cheaper health care!

Your kids are doomed to be fat if you struggle financially or you're not white. Sorry. USA Today says so. You're powerless against the convenience store!

A blogger at Show Me Daily nails it through he uprights on the Hannah Montana silliness.

KU Alum? Have a kid a KU? Thinking about sending your kid there? What do you think of the latest special publicly funded publication to come from the campus paper called "Sex on the Hill?"

Tune in tomorrow morning for our interview with TV's Joey Lawrence. He's promoting a new season of Dancing with the Stars and a new exercise book just published.

Catch the rebroadcast of former U.S. Attorney Todd Graves as he fills us in on the behind the scenes work that goes into the recent international steroid bust running right through an apartment in Kansas City, North.

Stay tuned for Ann Coulter and Chris Matthews of MSNBC in coming mornings on KCMO Talk Radio 710!
