KCMO Morning Show BlogMonday, October 22, 2007America's heartland is alive and well!
Thrilling news this weekend! LaRaza ran for the tall grass and decided to withdraw their annual convention scheduled for Kansas City. Why? Because one woman on the Parks and Recreation Board thinks border enforsement is important to our country. In their twisted logic - this makes her a racist.
We can be grateful to Mayor Mark Funkhouser for refusing to bow to LaRaza. Their fringe, aggressive attempt at censorship of free speech and promotion of illegal activity may work in the liberal corners of the map, but not where common sence Americans reside. Contact Mayor Funkhouser and thank him for standing tall once again. Mike Hendricks and Yael Abouhalkah decide better late than never to support the mayor. Where were they during their employer's smear campaign?! John Landsberg nicely recaps the Kansas City Star's history in covering this story. Hendricks and Abouhalka are certainly the minority opinion at the "Falling Star." Finally, one last reminder about our morning colleagues at KMBZ. Each Friday at 8:30, the alleged "news" radio station features this blogger. We'll ask once more. If this is a featured contributor to their morning news show - is this the position they wish to promote? Friday, October 19, 2007Carnahan vs. "Cures" and Connerly
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan must certify ballot language before it goes to a vote of the people next fall. The groups Cures Without Cloning and Missouri Civil Rights Initiative have both submitted clear ballot language to Ms. Carnahan. "Cures" seeks to officially ban human cloning in Missouri. Connerly's group seeks to ban the practice of preferential treatment by state agencies to minorities in hiring, college admission, contract labor, etc. Both issues are widely supported nationwide. Human cloning is banned in most states and California, Washington, and Michigan voters have all adopted Connerly's initiative.
However, neither of these groups fit Carnahan's political agenda. So, Carnahan has taken the liberty of redrafting the ballot language to confuse some and pander to others. Read both of the original submissions, then read how Carnahan has butchered their meaning - leading both groups to file lawsuits and call for her impeachment. Cures Without Cloning ballot language: Section 38(e) It shall be unlawful to clone or attempt to clone a human being as that term is defined in subsection 2 of this section. Researchers may conduct stem cell research to discover cures for disease and develop stem cell therapies and cures, provided that the research complies with the limitations of this section and the limitations of Section 38(d). The prohibition of this section shall be in addition to the prohibitions of Section 38(d). For all purposes within this article, “Clone or attempt to clone a human being” means create or attempt to create a human embryo at any stage, which shall include the one-cell stage onward, by any means other than fertilization of a human egg by a human sperm. No taxpayer dollars shall be expended: to clone or attempt to clone a human being; or to research or experiment using a human embryo, or any part of a human embryo, derived from cloning or attempting to clone a human being. Carnahan's Version: (note how she tricks you into thinking you're repealing a ban that doesn't exist. She counts on folks being confused.) Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to repeal the current ban on human cloning or attempted cloning and to limit Missouri patients’ access to stem cell research, therapies and cures approved by voters in November 2006 by: · redefining the ban on human cloning or attempted cloning to criminalize and impose civil penalties for some currently allowed research, therapies and cures; and · prohibiting hospitals or other institutions from using public funds to conduct such research? Missouri Civil Rights Initiative ballot language: “Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to prohibit any form of discrimination as an act of the state by declaring: • The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education or public contracting? Carnahan's Version: (note how she editorializes suggesting a "yes" vote would encourage discrimination) Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to: 1. ban affirmative action programs designed to eliminate discrimination against, and improve opportunities for, women and minorities in public contracting, employment and education; and 2. allow preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin to meet federal program funds eligibility standards as well as preferential treatment for bona fide qualifications based on sex? Tuesday, October 16, 2007Blogger to Stigall: A "pathetic white devil"
You may or may not be following what has now become an amusing online/broadcast debate between Chris Stigall and a local blogger who has the regular ear of the Kansas City Star and radio station KMBZ each week. The blogger's mother is actively involved in the radical shake-down of Mayor Mark Funkhouser and Frances Semler by La Raza.
Today, Stigall again called on listeners to become informed about this bloggers history, positions and affiliations and his cozy relationships with local media in Kansas City. That prompted this reply from the widely-read and well promoted blogger. Stigall responds : My focus in this debate is simply - know with whom your news outlets affiliate and source for information. Listeners and readers need to know what this guy is all about. They need to read his blog. They need to know that he is regularly read, featured, highlighted, and promoted on KMBZ and within the halls of the Kansas City Star. It is then that educated media consumers can choose the source of their local news. My leanings and opinions are clear and so are his. However, he has managed to work his way into supposed "journalists" daily reality, and somehow become an authority on truth. His are very liberal, radical, racist positions with which most Kansas Citians, and frankly Americans don't agree. When this blog is cited and promoted as a source of news rather than opinion it is not simply dishonest. Rather, once honest brokers of news are now choosing ideology over factual reporting. I assure you, if I were ever quoted in a Star column or online, I would be referred to as "conservative talk show host" or "Republican-leaning" or "anti-immigration." No such qualifiers are ever given for our blogger friend. Upon hearing his charges that I and my radio station were not abiding by federal broadcast guidelines, I personally wrote him and invited him on my program to challenge him on that assertion among others. He declined, and instead used his blog to respond. Still today, he continues to swing at me via a blog rather than debate in an unfiltered, unedited conversation. He asserts I would somehow control the setting, yet a one-on-one debate on the air is fairly hard to control short of hanging up. Hanging up makes one seem weak and unable to debate - neither of which am I. Someone always goes away sounding like the loser. Sometimes it's the host. Sometimes it's the guest. I'm willing to take that risk. How do you interpret refusing the debate altogether? He'll tell you it's because I'm "small-time" that he passes on my show. Yet amazingly, he'll dedicate a lengthy attack of me on his blog. Who dedicates such a "widely read" blog to someone as insignificant as me? I am educating people as to who he is and that major, once credible news outlets in this town now associate with him regularly and proudly. Now that his existence is being challenged as opposed to propped up, it's not as easy to lob radical, racial, personal attacks and lies. He no longer enjoys an unchallenged spotlight, and neither do those that promote him. I'll see to that. My invitation stands. Any time. Any hour. Wednesday, October 10, 2007How Long Before the "News" Radio Station Dumps This Guy?
OK, we've tried to move on. We've made an effort to avoid giving this racist any more publicity than some of our colleagues already do. You may remember recently this blogger was linked - and still is - to the Kansas City Star and featured every Friday morning at 8:30 on that "news" radio show down the dial. Not just as a commentator - but as a legit, credible news source. One they actively promote.
We learned after our live Behind the Mic show honoring Frances Semler that this guy charged KCMO Talk Radio 710 with violating the "equal time" provision within FCC guidelines. We know this because his post was linked to the Kansas City Star website. Read the recap of the entire episode courtesy of our buddies at Bottom Line Communications. We can't help but wonder what our friends at the "news" radio station are thinking. Have they even read what this guy writes and links to? Do they know their audience anymore? We'd ask you to read some of the nonsense we've linked to. We know we share listeners. So, we feel it is our responsibility to let you know what our "news" colleagues think passes for news these days. He calls Jason Whitlock a "Coon." And here's another one for you ladies. And if you're white well, you're no good either. This blogger is being promoted and propped up by the leading names in Kansas City "news." What a sad turn of events for these once great news sources. If you want to read inspirational positions on race relations and a moving story of truly living the American dream - you must read or watch this segment. Hey look! Positive news in the war... Then there's this one. We wondered why the press was so quiet lately. Have you noticed that? From Congress to the press, the once daily attacks on our "failed war effort" have subsided and the mouths have fallen silent. On that, how about the laughable editorial from the KC Star this weekend suggesting more media access to the military means increased, fair coverage. Without it - just what would you be thinking of our troops? They contend when left to your own imagination, you'd be thinking we're being defeated. Thanks to the media's access and spin on the war - now you KNOW we're being defeated. Conservative "lightning rod" state senator Matt Bartle talks with us tomorrow morning at 8:10, fresh from his address to the National Conference of Editorial Writers. How did he do in the lion's den of those that routinely slaughter him in print? Catch Bill Sammon tomorrow morning at 8:30 on his bombshell new book "The Evangelical President." Previous Posts
