Live from the National VFW Convention at Bartle Hall!

It's been a busy few days at KCMO. We're live on location through Wednesday at Bartle Hall with thousands of our nation's military heroes.

Monday we talked with John McCain and featured segments of his and Hillary Clinton's address to the convention. Without question, Monday was John McCain's day to shine. Amazing stories of heroism were relayed via a videotaped message from General David Patraeus in Iraq.

Tuesday Senator Fred Thompson stopped by our table before he addressed the convention hall. The Kansas City Star refers to the interview here. Watch Dave Helling's video report from the Star online. Hear the entire conversation with Thompson Wednesday morning at 6:30AM on KCMO. We'll also have clips of a speech delivered later in the morning by Senator Barack Obama.

Wednesday morning we'll talk with Army Reserve Chief Lt. General John Stultz and Governor Matt Blunt - both stopping by our table before they addresses the convention. Watch here for pictures and listen to KCMO around the clock for the latest audio from the convention! It all concludes with President Bush addressing the convention. Tune in just before 10AM and we'll carry the speech live on KCMO Talk Radio 710.

Another week is underway...

Thanks to everyone who took a shot at the Freedom Phrase today after 7AM. Listen to Sean Hannity again today between 2 and 5PM for the next phrase - then be caller 7 tomorrow!

Don't miss Senator John McCain Friday after 8AM on KCMO.

You may have read lately that Republicans, or conservatives, or partisans are critical of the Missouri courts. You know, the supposedly bi-partisan selection process to appoint judges to the highest, most powerful benches in the state? Turns out it's not just evil conservatives concerned about the process. The press is fit to be tied. NOW it's a problem.

Don't ever let someone tell you that crumbling bridges and roads in this country are due to a lack of money. As ABC's David Wright reported Friday on World News Tonight, there's plenty of money. The federal gas tax is currently 18.4 cents-per-gallon. That's 22 billion a year to the feds. Congress estimates it would take 9 billion a year for 20 years to get the nation's infrastructure in order. Wright went on to break down all the earmarks in infrastructure spending that have nothing to do with infrastructure. Again, there's plenty of dough. The pork-happy Congress just chooses to spend it elsewhere. Higher gas taxes? Not the answer. Fiscal responsibility and priority spending? You bet! Need more proof of the waste?

Have you got a teen or pre-teen girl for whom you struggle to find appropriate role models? Remember "Winnie" from the TV show "The Wonder Years?" Her actual name's Danika McKellar, and her new book about girls and math is fantastic for the young lady in your life.

This is a fantastic story of what not to do if you're going to cheat on your wife. Don't call 1-800-FLOWERS for starters.

Win Chiefs Pre-Season Tickets Tomorrow!

Crafty? Artistic? Not at all? Doesn't matter. Tomorrow morning we're doing the entire show from the Liberty Memorial with the CBS Early Show and the free country concert from Big and Rich. Make a sign for TV that shows your love for KCMO Talk Radio 710 - the best sign wins the Chiefs tickets! Stop by our broadcast truck between 6 and 8 AM to be considered. It's that easy.

Couple of items for your reading pleasure today...

Newt continues to slaughter the multi-"debate" format Americans are being subjected to - two years away from the election, no less. Now that MSNBC's latest "debate" drew less than 1 million viewers, the Speaker's words seem prophetic.

Yael hits it on the head in today's Kansas City Star. Big tax breaks for developers while the little upstart, small business guy gets soaked in taxes. Small business is still the largest employer of American workers today, and remains the backbone of the US economy. Why don't we treat them like it?

An interesting debate raged today about an op-ed in the New York Times. "If you were a terrorist, how would you strike America?" Some said this piece is offensive, some said it's cathartic, others said it's strategic. What do you say?

Midweek news...

Thanks to Natalie Shelton and the Liberty Tribune staff for the column featuring the KCMO Morning Show with Chris Stigall. Read it here.

Join us Friday as we broadcast live from the Liberty Memorial with the CBS Early Show and a free concert from Big and Rich.

Friday also marks the kick-off of the Sean Hannity Freedom Concert Fly-Away. Listen to Sean on Friday between 2 and 5PM for the "Freedom Phrase." If you're caller 7 Monday morning with the correct phrase - you'll instantly qualify for the trip and automatically win a four-pack of Royals vs. Yankees tickets September 9th for KCMO Talk Radio 710 day at "the K." Good luck!

David Limbaugh with a solid message for conservatives hungering for a real conservative candidate...

Continuing to challenge old assumptions about men and what is "manly behavior," we discovered an interesting new trend out there...

No one seemed too interested in the newest "community activist" demand for posted signs in Kansas City directing tourists to the Westside neighborhood. Some think it deserves the same kind of publicity as the Crossroads district, Westport, and the Plaza.

For anyone struggling with cancer personally or in their immediate circle of friends and family, we thought you'd enjoy a tremendous interview with White House Press Secretary Tony Snow.

McCain's agreed to a debate in an all-Spanish speaking forum. Can't wait to pin him about this one next Friday, August 18th after 7Am on the KCMO Morning Show.

Bars, Beer, Burgers and Breasts!

No, it's not the Man Show. All of these were in the news today. Pick your poison.

Bars - and the Independence movement to shut 'em down by kicking out customers.

Beer - how many do you drink in one sitting? Careful - you might be a "binger."

Burgers - McDonalds and Kansas City based Bernstein-Rein Advertising are conspiring to make our children fat! Parents - you're powerless against the wrapper!

Breasts - NYC's new push to take away a woman's right to choose. No, not abortion. Feeding!

The V.P. - A Prez. Wannabe - and the Mayor of KC

Joe Biden, presidential candidate and Democrat senator from Delaware paid the show a visit to talk up his new read "Promises to Keep." Find it here at Borders.

Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard hit Meet the Press and Larry King this week promoting his new profile of Dick Cheney. Hear the rebroadcast of his appearance on our show, Monday morning after 5AM. Get the book here. Free copies on Monday!

Mayor of Kansas City Mark Funkhouser made his weekly stop. He says the city's infrastructure is crumbling like most major US cities. Funk says without the renewal of the city's 1% sales tax by voters, we teeter on total disrepair. You'll be able to decide next year on your ballot. We're also watching the city council - again.

5 members voted to terminate City Manager Wayne Cauthen's current contract. Mind you, they want to keep Cauthen. They simply want to renegotiate a taxpayer friendly, merit-based pay structure. 6 voted to keep the hefty contract in place. The reason? Black activists demand Wayne Cauthen stay put, as is. Anything less is racist, of course.

One last question...Where were city council members Cathy Jolly and Ed Ford on this vote? And how will they vote when they show up for a second look at this? Theirs can make the difference for the taxpayers of Kansas City. Or will they side with the 6 who side with minority activists?

Monday at 7:10 - the Monday Morning Match-Up. One Republican versus one Democrat on Chris "Flipper" Koster and much more!

Tomorrow - Meet Another Presidential Candidate

Senator Joe Biden (D) of Deleware is also a candidate for President and author of a new book. He'll be with us after 7AM to talk about all this and more. Don't miss it!

Own or work for a proud American company? Do you hire only LEGAL Americans to do the work? We've found the website for you - >ProAmericaCompanies.com

Sign up for free and promote your business to local metro-area clients and all across the country that you're a proud, law-abiding American company! It's completely free.

411 members of the House of Representatives voted for stricter ethics standards for Congress. Only 8 did not. Two of the 8 were Missourians. One of the two - we'll give you a hint... He's a preacher and former mayor.

Frequent guest of this show >Chris Koster announced some time ago he's running for Attorney General in Missouri as a Republican. Today...he's still running, but now as a Democrat.
We're glad the senator from Harrisonville is an attorney. He'll need the gig after this embarrassingly disingenuous political stunt.
